Frequently Asked Questions

The Ashes Wedding Photography, Staffordshire

Q: What Packages do you offer?

A:  I offer several packages. None are set in stone.  Every wedding is unique, if you want something added or removed no problem.     Every client’s requirements are different, I design bespoke packages to fit these requirements.  All this is discussed at the initial meeting where you are provided with a personalised package quotation.

Q: How much do you charge?

A:  My rates are calculated from the coverage time, starting at £550 for the minimum part day.  Please see our wedding photography price list here for full details.

Q:  What deposit is required to book the date?

A:  £150 secures the date for you, with the balance required 2 months prior to the wedding date.

Q: Wonderful, so how do we book?

A:  You will need to attend an initial consultation, either at my home or a place convenient to us both  -  to discuss your wedding photography requirements and see if we get it on.  Should you decide to proceed you will need to complete a booking form and secure the date with a deposit of £150.  Once I receive the fee and completed form I will confirm all your details in writing -  Job done!.

Q: Can you hold my date so we can decide?

A:  Yes.  After the initial consultation I will hold the date for 5 days -  giving you time to make sure you have made the right decision.

Q: I hate having my photo taken. We want unposed relaxed photos. Is that ok?

A:  Yes, of course.  The photography will be unobtrusive and natural if that is the style you require. However after the pre-wedding photography session you will be more relaxed and confident about the whole process and may choose to have one or two formal photos.

Q: We don’t want many formal shots, is this ok?

A:  Not a problem!

Q: Do you travel?

A: Based in Staffordshire we don't charge travel expenses for weddings within a 40 mile radius.

Q: Do you bring more than one camera?

A:  Yes, multiple backup cameras and accessories are alway on hand at every wedding attended.

Q:  Are you insured?

A: Yes, public liability and professional indemnity insurance is provided.

Q: What time will you arrive on the day?

A:  Generally one to two hours before the ceremony depending on the coverage needed.

Q: How many images will we get from the wedding?

A:  200-300 plus. Again dependant on the coverage time.

Q: Are the photos edited?

A:  Most images should be good straight from the camera.  However, when needed professional edits will be completed with the Adobe suite of photography editing software -  Lightroom and Photoshop.

Q: How long will it be until we can see the images?

A:  Generally proof images may be expected online within 14 days.  Fully edited images are completed usually between 6 - 7 weeks, dependant on the package and the number of images  taken.

Q: How do we get the images after the wedding?

A:  Your high resolution images will be provided on a personalised USB stick mounted in a presentation box

Q:  As photographers will you need to be fed.

A:  No. We always bring our own food and drink.  Sandra and I never photograph guests when they are eating - this is generally the time on an all day shoot when we will try to grab a bite of a sandwich or two ourselves.

Q: What do we do with the images from our engagement shoot?

A:  You will have online access to view all images taken from your engagement shoot in a password protected gallery well before your wedding.  One chosen image will be made available for download as you require. Creative engagement photography Ideas include, a book made for guests to sign on the day,  a print signing board, a framed print or canvas wrap.  In addition a 10" x 8" print of your chosen image will be included.  If you would like additional images they will be available for purchase at studio prices.

Q: What is your style and do you take any family or formal group photos?

A:  I provide traditional and informal documentary style photography with the emphasis on an easy going and relaxed approach.

I do think that including some formal shots is important, but really this is the decision of each couple. I would normally recommend limiting set group shots to around 6 or 7, these can then be completed quickly to allow the bride and groom to be free to enjoy their day.

Q:  Can we make prints directly from the hi-res images that you provide

A:  Yes, you can print high resolution photographs directly from your password protected online gallery. in addition we will provide you with a presentation USB that contains all of the edited images of your special day. You are  free to print your wedding photographs as you wish, email them to friends or even upload them to Facebook - reproduction free rights are extended to all your wedding day images.

Q:  What happens to my wedding files?

A:  All images are kept on external hard drives and DVD indefinitely.
